Ethics Panel to Meet for First Time

Palm Springs will hold the first meeting of it Ethics, Transparency and Government Reform Task Force.

The session, which is open to the public, is scheduled to be held at 6 p.m. March 8 at the Palm Springs Police Department Training Center, according to a release.

Fifty five Palm Springs residents, including two students from Palm Springs High School, have been selected to serve on the task force. All are committed to helping the city improve its level of transparency and accountability with the public while helping it avoid potential conflicts of interest, according to the statement.

Mayor Robert Moon and Councilman Geoff Kors, who selected the people who will serve month the task force,will serve as the group’s subcommittee. Members were chosen based on their experience and background.

The task force, which will be broken into eight working groups, will make recommendations to the city council in a number of areas beside ethics and potential conflicts of interest, including city grants and sponsorships, communications and whether Palm Springs is meeting its diversity and inclusivity goals on its government board and commissions.
