The 27th annual Mission Inn Hotel & Spa’s Festival of Lights will return to downtown Riverside Nov. 29.
Food, entertainment, fireworks and the annual switch-on ceremony – in which millions of holiday lights come on at once at the historic hotel – are all scheduled to reappear the day after Thanksgiving, according to a statement.
Vendors are scheduled to begin working at noon. The switch-on ceremony, which is produced by The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa, the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce and the City of Riverside.
This year’s festival, which marks the start of the Christmas season for Riverside, will include:
- A large snow globe at Main Street between University and Mission Inn avenues meant to highlight the progress and accomplishments of UC Riverside;
- Live music daily at the Entertainment Stage in the City Hall breezeway on Main Street between 9th and 10th streets;
- Horse-drawn carriages, which are returning this year.
More than 750,000 people visit Riverside during the festival, according to the statement.
