After a two-year hiatus, the Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival is back for its 18th year.
Some less-than-stellar fundraising and a lack of financial assistance from the state caused the festival to be put on hold after 2011, but the event has been reorganized and is scheduled to start its five-day run tomorrow, according to a report in The Press-Enterprise.
Whether the festival returns in 2015 depends on how this year’s activities plays out. However, organizers say they’re optimistic about the future and comfortable with the changes they’ve made, including holding all of the movie screenings at one venue, the report stated.
The city of Temecula donated $10,000 to this year’s festival, one-fifth the amount festival organizers requested. In 2006, when the local economy was booming, the non-profit festival grossed $562,000, according to the report.
