The former Harris Department Store building in downtown San Bernardino has been boarded up and secured in the aftermath of a July 8 fire that left the building damaged but caused no deaths or injuries.
The bulk of the fire happened on the fourth floor of the building at 300 N. E St., according to a statement on the city’s website.
Several homeless people were evacuated, and two firefighters from the San Bernardino County Fire District were treated for minor injuries. San Bernardino officials expect to conduct another inspection of the building to further determine the extent of the damage, according to the statement.
