French Valley to get library

French Valley, an unincorporated community in Riverside County, will get its own library.

The Board of Supervisor voted 4-0 – Supervisor Jeff Hewitt was absent – in favor of a public-private partnership that will pay for the project, according to a statement.

French Valley Library will be built on the northeast corner of Winchester Road and Skyview Road. It will have separate reading rooms for young people, a community room, group study rooms and technology areas with charging stations.

Construction is scheduled to begin later this year, with completion expected in early 2021.

Besides the library, the parcel will have room for commercial projects.

The library will be operated by the Riverside County Library System. Supervisors also approved libraries in the cities of Menifee and Desert Hot Springs.

Riverside County has 36 branch libraries that attract roughly four million patrons a year, according to the statement.
