San Bernardino County has secured revenue that will complete Phase IV-A of the Santa Ana River Trail project.
The board of supervisors recently approved a $6.8 million grant from the California State Coastal Conservancy that will pay for planning, design and construction, according to a statement on the county’s website.
Phase IV-A will extend the project nearly four miles, from California Street to Orange Street in Redlands. Two phases of the trail have already been opened to the public: from La Cadena Avenue in Colton to the Riverside-San Bernardino county line, where it joined Riverside County’s trail section, and from Waterman Avenue in San Bernardino to La Cadena Avenue in Colton.
The river trail’s third phase, which is under construction, runs between Waterman Avenue and California Street in Redlands and San Bernardino. Work began in September and is expected to be finished at the end of this year, according to the statement.
