Future Ontario restaurant is hiring

Big Al’s, the sports bar and entertainment-themed restaurant that will open in Ontario next month, is looking to hire.

The Vancouver, Wash.-based chain plans to hire 170 people between now and March 16, the day its Ontario facility is scheduled to open, said Todd Moore, Big Al’s chief operating officer.

The restaurant, at 4120 E. Fourth St., will be the company’s fourth restaurant overall and its first in California. The site covers approximately 45,000 square feet and was formerly occupied by Best Buy.

Company officials have set up a recruiting center near the site that is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Open positions include servers, bartenders, hostesses, kitchen personnel and arcade technicians.

So far, about 200 applications have been submitted.

“We’re looking to fill just about everything,” Moore said.

Big Al’s first restaurant opened 11 years ago in Vancouver. The company has since opened restaurants in Beaverton, Ore. and Meridian Idaho.

A Big Al’s includes arcade games, bowling lanes, darts, pool and multiple high-definition televisions perpetually tuned to sports, including a 55-inch screen in the bar and grill, the restaurant’s focal point.

“It’s a great location for us,” Moore said of the Ontario site, which is part of Piemonte at Ontario Center. “It’s right in the middle of where we want to be.”

The company plans to hold several soft openings before its official opening. Anyone interested in applying for a job can get more information at ILoveBigAls.com or by visiting facebook.com/BigAlsOntario.
