S. Terri Gomez has been named president of Cal State San Bernardino.
Currently the provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at Cal Poly Pomona, Gomez’ appointment by the California State University Board of Trustees was announced July 22, according to a statement on Cal State San Bernardino’s website.
Gomez succeeds Tomas D. Morales, who is retiring. She is scheduled to take office Aug. 3.
“As a first-generation college graduate, and a lifelong resident of the Inland Empire, I am honored to be named Cal State San Bernardino’s president,” Gomez said in the statement. “I am excited by the opportunity to lead a university that serves the communities that have shaped me.”
A UCLA graduate, Gomez joined Cal Poly Pomona in 1999 as a faculty member in the Department of Ethnic and Women’s Studies, where she was promoted to full professor and served as department chair.
She also served as interim associate dean, associate vice president for Student Success, and associate provost for Student Success, Equity and Innovation, according to the statement.
