Eastvale lands electric vehicle service center

Grant to pay for EV charging stations

San Bernardino and the San Bernardino County Housing Authority have received a $1.4 million grant to pay for electric vehicle charging stations.

The funds from the Southern California Association of Governments will finance 16 stations near Baseline Street at the Arrowhead Grove Housing Community, according to a statement on San Bernardino’s website.

That project, which covers 40 acres, includes market-priced and affordable housing.

“We see more electric vehicles on our roads every day,” said Mayor Helen Tran in the statement. “It is important that charging stations are available to people who live in apartments and condominiums in addition to single family homes.

Four stations will be fast-charging, the remaining 12 will be standard charging stations, and all will be powered by on-site solar panels. Thirty two extra spaces will be built to accommodate future charging stations, according to the statement.
