Phil Hawkins has been appointed chief executive officer of the California Association of Realtors.
Hawkins is currently chief executive officer of the Pacific West Association of REALTORS, one of the largest regional real estate associations in California, according to a statement on CAR’s website.
He was selected to lead the CAR following a nationwide search. He succeeds Debra Ferrier, who has served as CAR’s interim chief executive officer since since April.
“Phil has deep knowledge about the real estate industry and the political landscape in California,” said said Melanie Baker, CAR president, in the statement. “His insights into the many issues facing us today make him uniquely positioned to be our next chief executive officer.”
