Perris has approved an ordinance making 100 percent juice, water or milk the default beverage in children’s meals at local restaurants.
The measure, which was adopted unanimously earlier this month, is meant to fight obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and a high cholesterol, according to a statement.
Customers will still be able to purchase sodas and other sugar drinks upon request. Stockton and Davis, both in Northern California, have passed similar ordinances, according to the statement.
