Help with utility, other bills available to Riverside County residents

A public agency has more than $3 million to distribute among low-income households in Riverside County to pay their utility bills and other essential services.

The Community Action Partnership of Riverside County’s  Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program helps with heating and cooling payments, along with water, sewer, trash, telephone, and internet bills, according to a statement released by Fourth District Supervisor V. Manuel Perez.

Assistance with the second category of payments is available because of extra funding from the federal CARES Act.

“Riverside County’s utility assistance program is a resource that can help residents in financial need,” said Perez in the statement. “Utility assistance can relieve some hardship and pay down these bills. The payments are made to utilities, so they receive support that can help them be flexible with customers during this emergency and provide services that are essential for staying home.”

“Programs like these have a ripple effect that helps the community through these difficult times.”

CAP Riverside is accepting applications by mail, email, or in drop boxes in Blythe, Desert Hot Springs, Hemet, and Riverside. For more information call CAP Riverside at (951) 955-4900.
