Beaumont held a grand opening Wednesday at what is believed to be the largest warehouse-distribution facility in the city.
Wolverine Worldwide covers 720,000 square feet at 1020 Prosperity Way, immediately south of the 60 Freeway, said Ashley Starr, city spokeswoman.
About 90 people work at the facility, which serves the western United States. A retail storefront is expected to be added, and there is room for more warehouse-distribution space, Starr said.
Founded in 1883, Wolverine Worldwide is based in Rockford, Mich. It makes branded footwear, clothing and accessories under various brand names and does business in an estimated 200 countries and territories, according to a statement released by the city.
Its footwear brands include Hush Puppies, Keds, Sperry, Stride Rite, Harley-Davidson and Cat, according to the statement.
