An estimated 12,000 students at public high schools in Riverside County will be offered direct admission to some Cal State University schools next fall without having to submit an application.
The Riverside County Office of Education and CSU are offering the first pilot-admission program to 10 CSU campuses, including Cal State San Bernardino, according to a statement on that university’s campus.
Qualified high school seniors in Riverside County – any who are on track to meet college preparatory courses – are being offered immediate, conditional admission to 10 CSU campuses.
Students will the select their preferred campus and receive acceptance letters from each of those schools.
“We are excited to provide a direct pathway to higher education for thousands of high school students across Riverside County,” said April Grommo, CSU assistant vice chancellor of Strategic Enrollment Management, in the statement. “Riverside County is an excellent location for this program, because it’s ethnically and economically representative of the diversity of California.”
Along with San Bernardino, the 10 Cal State campuses offering direct admission to Riverside County students are Channel Islands, Chico, East Bay, Humbolt, Maritime Academy, Monterey Bay, San Fransico, San Marcos and Sonoma.
Riverside County students may apply to other Cal State school not on the direct admissions list, according to the statement.
