Home Improvement Grants for Seniors

The Perris Housing Authority created the Senior Home Repair Program that gives a one-time $10,000 grant to senior citizens in order to make minor health and safety improvements in their home. Improvements include minor roof repairs, installing ramps, handrails or grab bar, heating or air-conditional replacement, smoke detectors, minor electrical and plumbing repairs and repairing or replacing broken steps.

Residents can make multiple improvements to their home as long as the total project costs do not exceed the $10,000 threshold.

Grant qualifications:
· Must be a resident in the City of Perris
· At least 26 years old
· Occupy the property as their major residence
· Meet HUD income requirement
· Property has to be a single family, conventional detached home or a mobile home

The Perris Housing Authority has budgeted $500,000 for the Senior Home Repair Program.
