Non-profit agencies that serve Palm Springs’ low to moderate-income residents are eligible to receive federal Community Development Block Grant Funds.
The city expects to receive $343,175 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, with those funds scheduled to be distributed starting July 1, according to a city statement.
Deadline to apply is Feb. 4
A workshop is scheduled to be held at 4 p.m. Jan. 27 at the city council chambers, 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, during which applicants will learn the details of the application process.
On Feb. 18, the city’s Citizen Advisory Committee on block grant funding will hear presentations from all applicants. The committee will make its recommendations to the city council in mid-March.
Any group interested in applying for block grant funds – which are used for community development, including building affordable housing and removing urban blight – may obtain a request for proposal packet online at palmspringsca.gov under Community & Economic Development.
