The Inland Empire’s unemployment rate reached four percent in June, up from a revised 3.4 percent in May but well below the 8.4 percent predicted one year earlier, according to data released.
Statewide, unemployment last month was also four percent, the state employment development department reported in its monthly assessment of California’s housing market.
Both June jobless numbers are unadjusted, meaning they don’t take into account seasonal factors that typically influence the job market. California’s adjusted jobless rate in June was 4.2 percent.
Total non-farm employment in Riverside and San Bernardino counties last month went from 1,647,800 to 1,653,000, an increase of 5,200 jobs. Agricultural employment increased by 1,200 jobs over the month.
Professional and business services added 3,000 jobs, as did trade, transportation, and utilities.
Between June 2021 and June 2022, total non-farm employment in the Inland Empire went up by 92,500, an increase of nearly six percent, the employment development department reported.
