Indio Residents Want More Cops, Parks

Indio residents want more police protection, better infrastructure and more parks.

That’s the result – so far – of a community survey the city began in January that is expected to wrap up in September, said PJ Gagajena, city spokesman for the city.

About 900 people have responded so far, and Indio officials hope that number reaches 1,500 to 2,000 by the time the survey concludes.

“We’re looking for as much input as we can get,” Gagajena said.

Residents can access the survey either on the city’s website, indio.org, or by filling out a form that’s available at city council meetings and other civic events. The survey asks residents what issues – including police protection, infrastructure, 911 response times, caring for seniors – are most important to them.

A summary of the survey’s findings to date was posted on the city’s website Tuesday. Once the survey is finished, the council will decide what changes to make, if any, Gagajena said.
