Inland drilling company merges with San Dimas firm

San Bernardino-based Legend Pump & Well Service has been purchased by a San Dimas company.

General Pump Co., a provider of utility-scale water well and pump services throughout Southern California, recently bought Legend for an undisclosed sum, according to a statement released by General Pump.

Legend began operations in 2010, General Pump in 1953.

The merger, announced Feb. 18, will provide quicker response times and high-quality engineering to hundreds of customers. The company, which will operate under the General Pump name, will have 80 employees that will oversee a large fleet of equipment, electrical and control systems, and pump manufacturing abilities.

All Legend employees will continue as General Pump employees, and will work out of their San Bernardino office. Service to Legend customers will continue uninterrupted.

“This partnership couldn’t have happened at a better time for our companies,” said Keith Collier, Legend founder, in the statement. “ After 15 years of growth, we reached the point where we needed a partner. We couldn’t be more excited to continue our service as a part of the General Pump team.”
