Prospect Medical Group, a Los Angeles-based independent physicians association, will buy part of Vantage Medical Group, also an IPA, which serves the Inland Empire and San Diego counties.
The transaction is expected to close this summer, according to a statement.
Prospect Medical will purchase CalCare IPA and Los Angeles Medical Center IPA, both of which serve Los Angeles County. When the deal is completed, the three purchased associations will become part of one of the largest IPA’s in the United States, with more than 20,000 providers.
Currently, the three purchased IPA’s have health plan agreements with six payers responsible for approximately 130,000 members, most of whom are managed Medicaid/Medi-Cal members, according to the statement.
