Inland philanthropic group names vices president

Thomas L. Stephenson has been named vice president of philanthropic services for The Community Foundation in Riverside.

Stephenson has a long history in philanthropic work, including fundraising, community relations, legislative affairs and public policy, according to a statement.

A Southern California resident, Stephenson has worked with a number of institutions, including University of California, Irvine, the Irvine Company of Newport Beach and Project Concern International of San Diego.

His fields of expertise have included K-12 and university education, international community development, human rights, culture and arts and issues concerning veterans, according to the statement.

Stephenson’s appointment was announced Monday by Jonathan Lorenzo Yorba, the foundation’s president and chief executive officer.

“Tom offers the foundation a wealth of talent and energy.,” Yorba said in the statement. “We look forward to working with him as we collectively strive on behalf of our community, focusing our efforts to reach a vision where every man, woman and child can share in the benefits of a vibrant, generous and just region with unlimited opportunities.”

The foundation raises and distributes funds and other assets to charity and community organizations in Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
