Inland transit agency responds to Coronavirus

Omnitrans, the largest public transit agency in Southern California, has set up a task force in response to concerns about the spread of the Coronavirus.

That group will communicate with the U.S. Center for Disease Control in Atlanta, along with local health authorities in order to deal with people’s concerns, according to a statement on the agency’s website.

Officials have also increased daily bus maintenance protocols, and are now disinfecting seats and handrails every night along with their regular cleaning. Hand sanitizes and disinfectant are also available throughout Omnitrans’ facilities for all employees, including coach operators.

Coronavirus, formally known as COVID-19, was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China, and has since been detected in the United States and California. So far, in Southern California, the virus has been identified in only a few places.
