Inland universities recognized for social mobility

Three Inland Empire universities have been ranked among California’s top institutions of higher learning for social mobility among their graduates.

Cal State Bernardino (6) UC Riverside (16) and the University of Redlands (43) were recognized by The College Futures Foundation, a nonprofit that promotes equal opportunity in higher education.

The foundation’s Oakland office recently ranked the top 82 four-year colleges and universities in California based on the percentage of low- and moderate-income students they enroll, and the return on investment they generate within California.

The rankings are formally known as the Four-Year California Mobility Index, which the foundation launched recently with an assistant from the HEA Group, a research and consulting firm that focuses on higher education.

Cal State Los Angeles, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal State Stanislaus, Cal State Bakersfield and Cal State Fresno made up the top five.
