Jenkins stepping down as County airport director

James Jenkins is retiring as director of San Bernardino County’s director of airports.

A 33-year department employee, Jenkins will leave office in June and will be replaced by Brett Godown, who has been assisting Jenkins since January, according to a statement on the county’s website.

From 2006 to 2011, Godown worked as an airport operations supervisor and interim airport manager for Chino Airport, which is owned by the county.

After Godown left the county in 2011, he worked as an airport manager at Page Municipal Airport in Arizona. Later, he managed the Salinas Municipal Airport off the central coast of California.

“My successor, Brett Godown, started his career for the Department of Airports, and he and I got a chance to spend a lot of time together [after] he was hired in as an airport operation supervisor and I was assistant director of airports,” Jenkins said in the statement. “He understands our system.”
