Brian Kloepfer, San Bernardino County’s flood control supervisor, has been named citizen of the year by the Oak Glen Apple Growers Association.
Kloepfer received the award last month, according to a statement on the county’s website.
“Brian’s tireless efforts in going above and beyond his call of duty, both in his 25-year career with the county and as a resident, have significantly impacted the lives of those around him,” according to a statement on the county’s website.
Following the El Dorado fire, which burned more than 22,000 acres in San Bernardino and Riverside counties in 1990, Kloepfer gathered 40 volunteers who helped free a person trapped in their home.
Oak Glen is an unincorporated agricultural community in San Bernardino County in the foothills of the San Bernardino mountains.
