Mike Lee has retired as Moreno Valley’s city manager.
Lee, who oversaw some of the city’s largest public improvement projects, stepped down Dec. 27 after spending 10 years with the city, including five as city manager, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Assistant City Manager Brian Mohan has been named interim city manager. He is expected to be offered the job permanently, according to reports.
During Lee’s tenure, Moreno Valley completed pavement rehabilitation and park renovation programs. The city also built several major public facilities, including the Moreno Valley Civic Center Amphitheater, the Community Demonstration Garden, the Iris Branch of the Moreno Valley Public Library, and the Moreno Beach Drive Bridge project.
“Mike’s visionary leadership, tireless dedication, and collaborative approach have been pivotal in achieving Moreno Valley’s most significant economic growth in its history,” Mayor Ulises Cabrera said in the statement.
