Leyva takes position at KVCR

State Sen. Connie Leyva, D-San Bernardino, has been named executive director of KVCR-TV/FM.

The San Bernardino television and radio stations are the only publicly owned media in the Inland Empire and are celebrating their 60th anniversary this year, according to a statement on the KVCR website.

Leyva, who was elected to the state senate in 2014 and reelected four years later, is not seeking a third term. She began working for KVCR after her legislative term ended Sept. 5.

“I am excited to join KVCR, a gem of the Inland Empire,” Leyva said in the statement. “My family grew up with public radio and television, so it is a great honor to lead the KVCR team as it continues to provide factual, informative, and entertaining programming to the residents of the Inland Empire.”

Leyva will be in charge of implementing KVCR’s long-term strategic plan, which include fundraising and increasing news and entertainment content, according to the statement.
