Local fireworks manufacturer buys Pacific Northwest company

An Inland Empire fireworks manufacturer has bought a special effects effects company in Washington.

Pyro Spectaculars by Souza in Rialto recently purchased Pyro & Fire FX, LLC, according to a statement released June 21 by the Inland Empire company.

Terms of transaction, including the purchase price and possible job losses, were not disclosed.

Pyro & Fire FX is based in Gig Harbor, a city [pop. 12,500] on the shore of the Puget Sound. The company makes effects for indoor and outdoor venues, including flame, cryo, sparks, smoke, stage effects and confetti/streamers.

“Our clients will benefit from a suite of FX, multimedia entertainment services, and fireworks, all under one roof,” says Jim Souza, Pyro Spectaculars by Souza’s chief executive officer, in the statement. “The expertise and resources of both companies will broaden our range of effects, creating experiences for our [Pacific] Northwest clients like the Space Needle and the Seattle Mariners.”

Pyro & Fire FX expects to produce more than 400 fireworks shows this Fourth of July. The company has been in business for five generations. It has produced shows for Super Bowls, the Olympics and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, according to the statement.
