Election night in Riverside County this November could turn into the late show.
Counting the ballots on Nov. 4 could take twice as long as it did in the June primary because the November ballot is much longer, according to a report in The Press-Enterprise.
The upcoming ballot will include state and congressional races as well as city council, school board and water district contests. The Riverside County will include 363 candidates, six state propositions and 30 local ballot measures, according to the report.
Paper ballots will be two cards instead of one, so it will take longer to tabulate them through the counting machines.
The Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved a budget of $4.5 million to count the ballots after hearing a presentation from Rebecca Spencer, the county’s interim registrar of voters.
San Bernardino County officials aren’t sure yet how long it will take to count ballots there, the report stated.
