Grading has begun on a major housing development in Corona.
Bedford will consist of 1,620 homes southwest of the Cajalco Road and Interstate 15 interchange, on the site for a former lemon grove, according to a statement released by the project’s developer, The New Home Company in Aliso Viejo.
The development, which will cover approximately 275 acres, is being advertised as the largest master-planned community in Corona in more than 15 years.
After grading is completed, construction will begin on several community buildings and recreational components, including parks, trails and about 50 acres of open space. The development will include the 10-acre Bedford Marketplace, which will include retail, office, entertainment, lodging and other commercial elements.
The first 400 homes, a combination of single-family attached and detached structures, is expected to be ready by mid-2018, according the statement.
