Fisker Automotive and Technology Group, the company that announced it June that it will open its first U.S. manufacturing plant in Moreno Valley, will host a job recruitment session today.
The event, which will be held at the Moreno Valley Employment Resource Center, will screen applicants for approximately 37 full-time positions, said Mike Lee, the city’s economic development director.
Positions to be filled include general assembly/body shop technicians, body shop electro-mechanical technicians and quality assurance personnel, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Recruitment is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon.
The session will be handled by the city and the Riverside County Workforce Development Department and is part of Hire MoValley, in which the city provides job recruitment services to businesses in exchange for those businesses hiring local qualified people whenever possible.
“We made this process available to Fisker and they jumped at it,” Lee said. “All we’re going to do is assist them in the recruiting process. But we’re making every effort we can to fill those jobs with local residents.”
Costa Mesa-based Fisker will develop Karma, a hybrid vehicle, at a facility it plans to build in the south part of the city. It plans to create 150 full-time manufacturing jobs and expects to begin production sometime next year, according to company officials.
