McHargue steps down as Colton fire chief

Colton Fire Chief Tim McHargue has retired after 22 years with the department.

McHargue began working with the Colton Fire Department in 2002 as the youngest battalion chief in San Bernardino County, according to a statement on the city’s website.

Before that he worked in several positions in the Cathedral City Fire Department and, prior to that, in Georgia.

“Serving the Colton community has been a blessing to my family and my career,” McHargue said in the statement. “I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together, and I leave the department in capable hands,”

McHargue has been replaced by Raymond Bruno, who has worked with the Colton Fire Department for 28 years, most recently as its deputy fire chief.
