Loma Linda University Medical Center has been recognized for its work in bariatric surgery.
The medical center has been named a Blue Distinction Center for its efforts in that form of elective surgery, according to a report in The Press-Enterprise.
That designation is given to medical facilities nationwide that deliver high-quality, specialized care in a specific field, the report stated.
Bariatric surgery is done to bring about weight loss and is one of the most common elective surgeries in the United States, according to the report.
