Pete Mendoza has been named San Bernardino County’s permanent director of purchasing.
A 32-year county employee, Mendoza has served as interim purchasing director since 2021, according to a statement on the county’s website.
“Pete is an experienced professional who along with his team has successfully kept the county well-equipped to face many challenges,” said Board of Supervisors Chair Dawn Rowe in the statement. “I believe all of our residents will benefit from Pete’s continued leadership.”
Mendoza began working for the county in 1991, as an eligibility worker trainee in the Human Services’ Transitional Assistance Department. Since then he has held various leadership positions, managing countywide projects and overseeing procurement for nearly 13 years, according to the statement.
