Menifee to Get Drive-In Restaurant

Sonic, the drive-in restaurant chain, is coming to Menifee.

The company will open its first restaurant in the city at the southwest corner of Newport and Haun roads, probably within two months, said Scott Forest, senior vice president with WestMar Commercial Real Estate in Temecula.

The restaurant, which is under construction, will be owned and operated by SDISD Holdings LLD, a local Sonic franchisee.

It’s not known how many people will work there. The restaurant, which will cover about 1,400 square feet, is being developed on a 35,000-square-foot parcel, according to a WestMar statement.

The Sonic will be part of the Menifee Town Center, which will include Aldi’s, PetSmart, Buffalo Wild Wings, El Pollo Loco and Party City. It will be across the street from a complex that includes a Kohl’s, SuperTarget and Best Buy.

“That area is becoming ground zero for retail in Menifee,” said Forest, who represented SDISD Holdings in the lease negotiations.

The property is owned by Rich Development Enterprises LLC in San Pedro. Terms of the lease were not disclosed.

The Menifee operation will be the tenth Sonic restaurant in the Inland Empire. The Oklahoma City-based chain operates more than 70 restaurants in California and about 3,500 restaurants nationwide.

Most of those locations are owned by franchisees, according to the company’s website.
