Metrolink station to get upgrade

Metrolink tries out 10-day “flex pass”

Metrolink has introduced a 10-day pass designed for people who don’t commute to work every day.

The “flex-pass” offers 10 one-day passes that may be used at any time for 60 days, according to a statement on the transit agency’s website.

The pilot program launched last month and will be in place for six months. Metrolink will then evaluate the 10-day program and decide whether to make it permanent.

After the pandemic took hold and more people began to work from their home and office, Metrolink introduced a five-day pass that now accounts for seven percent of the transit agency’s fare revenue, according to the statement.

“That pass introduction was a success, but our customers shared that they needed a pass with even more flexibility for the new way of working, [which is] fewer days in the office,” said Darren Kettle, Metrolink’s chief executive officer, in the statement.

The 10-day flex pass is available exclusively on Metrolink’s mobile app.

Riders choose their origin and destination stations, then select the 10-day program from the ticket menu. They then receive 10 one-day passes in their mobile app ticket wallet, according to the statement.
