Mo Valley means large industrial projects

Mo Valley means large industrial projects
Moreno Valley has landed another major logistics operation.

Deckers Outdoor Corp., which manufactures shoes and sandals for sports and recreational use, will lease 800,000 square feet of industrial space in the city, said John Terrell, Moreno Valley’s community and economic development director.

That space is being developed by Sares Regis on open space at Perris Boulevard and Grove View Road in the south part of the city. The building is expected to ready for use in early 2015, Terrell said.

Lease terms are still being negotiated. About 150 people are expected to work at the facility.

Deckers Outdoor plans to add an additional 200,000 to 400,000 square feet of logistics space, but the timing of that move ultimately depends on how much business the company is generating.

“That’s probably two or three years away,” Terrell said. “It depends on the economy.”

Several companies, including Skechers and Ross Dress For Less, operate warehouse-distribution operations in Moreno Valley that top one million square feet, and Amazon.com recently announced plans to build a 1.2-million-square-foot fulfillment center there.

Deckers Outdoor is based in Goleta in Santa Barbara County.
