Molloy named Murrieta fire chief

Bernard Molloy II has been named Murrieta’s fire chief.

Appointed March 21, Molloy is the 10th chief in the Murrieta Fire & Rescue Department’s 75-year history, according to a statement on the city’s website.

Molloy was most recently a fire chief for the Lakeside Fire Protection District. Her has lived  with his family in southwest Riverside County for 20 years.

“I am excited to join an organization that is a leader in the fire service at delivering public safety to the citizens they serve,” Molloy said in the statement. “I believe that a community is better served by a team than by an individual, so I look forward to continuing to develop the incredible team we have here at Murrieta Fire & Rescue.”

During his 22-year career Molloy has worked as as a firefighter/paramedic, engineer, captain, fire academy instructor, according to the statement.
