Fortino Morales III has been named Riverside’s sustainability manager.
Morales III, who most recently held the same position at UC Riverside, will make sure the city keeps up with developments in clean energy, water quality, and waste reduction, according to a statement on the city’s website.
While at UC Riverside, Morales II was the founding director of R’Garden, a seven-acre garden and learning space for students and the surrounding community. He also helped lead the re-launch of the school’s sustainability office.
“Fortino has a deep understanding of the sustainability issues facing Riverside,” City Manager Mike Futrell said in the statement. “His expertise will help the city move forward with a new climate action plan.”
Morales III is scheduled to begin working for the city June 7.
