Eastvale lands electric vehicle service center

Moreno Valley buys more electric vehicles

Moreno Valley has added six Ford E-Transit vans to it fleet of electric vehicles.

The city now operates 11 zero-emission vehicles: four Chevy Bolts and seven Ford E-Transits, according to a statement on the city’s website.

“Our city continues to lead the charge to build sustainable and environmentally responsible infrastructure,” said Moreno Valley Mayor Ulises Cabrera in the statement. “The expansion of our fleet of zero-emission vehicles marks an important milestone for us as we continue to reduce our carbon footprint.”

Besides being better for the environment, electric vehicles save the city money by not having to pay for fuel, and because they’re less expensive than gas-operated vehicles to maintain and repair.

The transit vans were paid for in part with a grant from California’s Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project, which was established in 2009 by the California Air Resources Board. Their exact cost was not disclosed.
