Moreno Valley Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez on Monday hosted a delegation of visitors from Zacapu Michoacan, Mexico.
The delegation was led by the city’s leader, Presidente Municipal Gerardo Torres and included members of Torres’ staff, according to statement.
During a brief ceremony and reception before both parties held their meeting, Mayor Gutierrez gave Torres a key to the city and expressed his thanks to the delegation for its visit and interest in Moreno Valley.
“International relationships are important to the quality of educational, cultural and economic exchanges that benefit all parties,” Gutierrez said in the statement. “We appreciate the opportunity to explore options for future interaction with the government and residents of Zacapu.”
Both sides discussed possibly establishing a student exchange and sister city program. Moreno Valley established its first sister city relationship in 1993, with San Juan de Los Lagos, Jalisco, Mexico.
