Moreno Valley Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez and the city council hosted the city’s annual Christmas Tree lighting ceremony Saturday.
The virtual event was held at 6 p.m., with residents joining the festivities via the city’s Facebook and YouTube accounts and its cable television channel, MV3, according to a statement on the city’s website.
“We’ve learned to adapt to new ways of doing things in 2020, and that’s OK,” said Gutierrez in the statement. “Our popular holiday tree lighting was never in question. It was just a matter of deciding how to do it this year.”
Video of the event will be on Facebook and YouTube for those who could not watch the ceremony live.
The tree will be on display at city hall, 14177 Frederick St., until Jan. 1, according to the statement.
