Moreno Valley has received three Merit Awards for excellence in economic development programming from the California Association for Local Economic Development.
The city was recognized for its efforts in attracting a Karma Automotive manufacturing facility to the city, its Hire MoVal program – which tries to get city businesses to hire local residents – and its Business Spotlight program, which is a business retention effort, according to a statement posted Tuesday on the city’s website.
Karma Automotive was formerly known as Fisker Automotive.
CALED is the state’s top economic development organization. It helps its members in both the public and private sector provide economic development services to their communities, according to the statement.
