Moreno Valley recognized by IEEP

Moreno Valley has been named “Public Partner of the Year” by the Inland Empire Economic Partnership.

Riverside County’s second-largest city was recognized for attracting jobs and fostering job creation, according a statement on the city’s website.

Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez accepted the award Thursday at the partnership’s annual dinner and awards ceremony, held at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario.

Moreno Valley has created an estimated 20,000 jobs in the past six years, and its unemployment rate is now four percent.

During that time, the city’s economic growth has increased housing values by almost 51 percent, household income has gone up 36 percent and the number of Moreno Valley residents attending and completing college has increased, according to the statement.

“Moreno Valley continues to be a leader in business attraction and workforce development,” partnership president and chief executive officer Paul Granillo said in the statement, “This award acknowledges the leadership of the city council and staff for their hard work and continued partnership with the greater Inland Empire.”
