MoVal lands another electric vehicle maker

A Luxembourg company will make light commercial vehicles powered by electricity at Karma Automotive’s Moreno Valley manufacturing facility.

Production of B-ON’s delivery trucks is expected to start this year, with full-scale production slated for 2024, according to a statement on the city’s website.

Terms of partnership between Karma and B-ON, including how many jobs it might create, were not disclosed.

Moreno Valley will be the third California city to have two electric vehicle manufacturers within its borders, said Mayor Ulisis Cabrera.

“This partnership is estimated to create new local manufacturing jobs, and it places a brighter spotlight on Moreno Valley as a hub for automotive innovation,” Cabrera said in the statement.

Moreno Valley has been home to Karma Automotive’s production operation since 2015. The Innovation and Customization Center at 17100 N. Perris Blvd. can employ 330 per shift when manufacturing at full capacity and produce 30,000 vehicles a year, according to the statement.
