Kawhi Leonard, Moreno Valley native and a member of the Los Angeles Clippers, and Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez recently dedicated Kawhi Leonard Basketball Court at Weston Park.
The court was designed by street artist Mr. Brainwash and hand-painted by community volunteers, including city staff, council members, Leonard’s family, and members of the Moreno Valley Emerging Leaders Council, according to a statement on the city’s website.
The regulation-size court includes slogans such as “You are stronger than you think,” and “Life is beautiful.”
“I’m proud of where I come from,” Leonard said in the statement. “Moreno Valley is my hometown, and I will always do whatever I can to give back to this community.”
Construction of the court was a partnership between the City of Moreno Valley, the Leonard Family, New Balance, the NBA 2K Foundation, NRG, and Shoe Palace. Weston Park is at 13170 Lasselle St.
