MoVal to open amphitheater

Moreno Valley will officially open the Moreno Valley Civic Center Amphitheater, a 600-seat venue constructed on seven acres.

Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez and the city council are scheduled to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. today. The event is free and open to the public.

“Our city has long needed a public facility like this, a beautiful gathering place that can serve as a showcase for local talent and host local and regional events,” said Gutierrez in a statement on the city’s website. “With COVID-19 heading toward our rearview mirrors, I am looking forward to welcoming thousands of Moreno Valley residents to enjoy our great new amphitheater.”

The amphitheater, at Alessandro Boulevard and Veterans Way, will be used for multiple events, including the MoVal Rocks/MoVal Movies series, El Grito, which celebrates Mexico’s independence, Day of the Dead, Snow Day, and Farmers Market.

Developer impact fees paid for the venue, which is available for rent, according to the statement.
