Jeff Eason Sr. is back as president of the Barstow Senior Center.
Eason returned days after being acquitted on embezzlement charges in connection with his management of the center, according to a report in the Barstow Desert Dispatch.
Eason was charged with stealing $3,000, a washer-dryer and a refrigerator from the center. He was placed on administrative leave for two months starting last October. Charges were filed against him in December.
On Monday, following a nine-day trial, a jury acquitted him of two embezzlement charges and deadlocked on the third charge. That charge was dismissed by Judge Lisa M. Rogan, according to the report.
Eason, who said he was relieved by the verdict, blamed the missing $3,000 on an accounting error, according to the report.
