Jeff Melching has been named Menifee’s city attorney.
Melching, a partner with Rutan & Tucker LLP in Costa Mesa, specializes in municipal law, land use planning and entitlement, according to a city statement.
He has more than 20 years of legal experience, including a stint as Duarte city attorney, Irvine assistant city attorney and general counsel for the Orange County Great Park Corp.
Melching, who was named California “Super Lawyer” by Super Lawyer Magazine in 2010, 2012 and 2014, has argued cases before the state Superior Court, the U.S. District Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has also published multiple papers and is a frequent lecturer, most recently on updates to the Land Use and Natural Resources Practice Group, according to the statement.
Melching began work as city attorney this month.
