Mary Rivers, a fourth grade teacher in the Hesperia Unified School District, has been named one of three teachers of the year in San Bernardino County.
Rivers teaches at the Krystal School of Science, Math and Technology, according to a report in The Press-Enterprise.
Christopher Brunette, a social studies teacher at Green Valley High School in the Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District, and Cari Gibson, a sixth-grade teacher at Cucamonga Middle School in the Central School District, also were nominated, the report stated.
All three teachers were honored earlier this month during a ceremony at the Roy C. Hill Education Center in San Bernardino. All were nominated by their districts and reviewed by a panel of county administrators who were responsible for the final picks.
Rivers, Brunette and Gibson will all compete for California Teacher of the Year, the report stated.
